ALL YOU WANT IS TO BE HAPPY

Dear Ones,

Yet another flow from the sanctum sanctorum, Puttaparthi.

The above inspiring quote summarizes the essence of at least 3 to 4 posts under the theme " Purpose of Human Birth" where, search for happiness was dealt in detail.

Yes, it is 100% true that each and every human being, no matter where he is born, whether a king or a beggar, aspires  or rather lives, only with one aim- " TO BE HAPPY".

The desire for being happy is not actually bad, as the master says in the above quote.

But the desire should be to " BE HAPPY ETERNALLY", which is to be ' TRUELY AND EVER LASTING HAPPY" as mentioned in the above quote.

Where does a man go wrong in pursuing his desires for being happy??

While he wants to be permanently happy, today, tomorrow, this year, next year and all his last breath, the major mistake that he does is- He pursues all those things in life which can give him only limited happiness , for one day, one month, one year or few years.

The money, the power, the relationships, property, fame, entertainments, job / career enrichment are few of them. You can include many other things in the list , which we pursue for getting happiness.

You may be surprised to know that without understanding the true purpose of any devotional practice, even the satisfaction derived from devotional practice/ rituals are but just happiness which is not ever lasting!

While there is no issue in pursuing these things,  we must understand one thing crystal clear today. All these things can give us happiness for some time, in different phase of life.

So, even while pursuing the above, we must be clear that these cannot give us ever lasting happiness.

There are 2 things - one is NIJAM and another is SATHYAM.

NIJAM

All the above things listed are to be understood as NIJAM, i.e,  True/ fact, with respect to a particular phase in our life.

To make it more clear, a boy is madly in love with a girl. The boy thinks that she / his love for her, is the only truth in his life, whereas that love is NIJAM, true in his phase as boy , in his adolescence.

Will he keep loving  the girl for entire life and also, will that love continue to give him same happiness till his death , as it gave him on the first day he expressed his love n the girl accepted his love ?. Never.

SATHYAM

Whereas, eternal love for God attained after single pointed devotion - only that love has the potency and power to give you ever lasting happiness. This love of God is SATHYAM.

NIJAM is relative happiness, in a particular phase in life whereas SATHYAM is God realization / God's love , which is eternal TRUTH.

While there is no rule/ restriction that one should not pursue all things in our life which are NIJAM, one has to be very clear that these pursuits are not going to give them eternal happiness.

Temporary  satisfaction on fulfillment of a desire is HAPPINESS whereas eternal  joy of God realization is BLISS.

Choice is ours. We want temporary happiness or ever lasting Ananda/ Bliss?
