Bhagwan Mahavira

Dear Ones,

The above pour is often explained by Sri Chinmaya as :-

Non Apprehension of the reality and
Misapprehension of unreal to be real!

In yesterday's post, we dealt with exactly the same thing where taking wave (our physical identity) to be real was the misapprehension of unreal to be real

and

Inability to know and experience the reality of ocean (our God-hood) is the non apprehension of the reality referred above.

What does Mahavir give as the ultimate solution to this problem?

It apparently is a very difficult solution because, due to our Ignorance/Ego, we are not able to experience that we and God are one and as a cure for this disease, Mahavir Swami says, Go and realize your SELF, realize/experience that you are God, then only this ignorance will vanish.

Arey Sahab, if I had known the secret of how to remove the ignorance, then I myself would achieve that. I am not able to remove my Ego and have been suffering for several births and incarnations simply tell me-Realize the SELF and then your Ego will vanish?

A visitor comes to Sri Ramana and says, I have to catch the evening train, I have couple of hours with me and in this short term, I need SELF-REALIZATION!

What has to be really understood from the above Gospel?
  • One has to be convinced that the permanent remedy to the disease of Avidya, Asmita, Raga, Dvesha, Abhinivesha, Vasana diseases is realization of the only purpose of human birth-TO REALIZE SELF OR GOD.
  • The above conviction is the starting point of spiritual sadhana and not the end. Mere understanding or mere knowledge of the above will not fetch us Realization.
  • It requires years and years or may be few births of rigorous spiritual sadhana under the watchful eyes of a realized Master or the chosen God.
  • The decline in ego and arising in sadhana are inversely proportional. The more you ascend in sadhana and experience in sadhana, the lesser and lesser will be your ego within you.
  • This can be easily visualized and understood by one simple thought. When we have seen Swami in Sai Kulwant hall, was there any ego in us? Was there any thought about ourselves as a person with so and so name, form, identity, etc.
  • This vision of Sai/God has to be understood/equated with spiritual experience in Sadhana and then we can easily know that the spiritual experience and ego can never co-exist.
  • At the end, in one birth, at one moment, as taught in all the previous themes and all the posts, the subtlest of the ego - the avidya must leave us and God must take us to Him like the salt doll merges with the ocean, never to come back as a salt doll again.
  • It is then that there is neither non-apprehension nor misapprehension because, the person who can non-apprehend or misapprehend — does not exist any more. He has ascended from Man-Man to God-Man!! Story is over. The picture of that God-Man's life has ended with a happy note. Drama of life is over.

Paramhansa Yogananda

Dear Ones,

Let us understand the inner meaning of the profound gospel of the Master.

This quote is referred umpteen number of times in all Vedanta discourses by almost all Masters, all Scholars, all Sanyasis.

  • Wave is at surface level whereas the ocean is at substratum level.
  • The entire cosmos, the manifest creation, you and me and every one else are visibly seen in our physical form at gross level just as the waves are visible at the gross level, standing on the sea shore.
  • From where the wave  originates, in what the wave  sustains and after a while, in what the wave  dissolves or merges?  In the substratum which is ocean. Correct?
  • Similarly, all of us, the entire nature, upon understanding the process of creation out of 5 elements, the process of creation of 5 elements itself etc. in day before yesterday's post, are born out of the source that is God, call Him as any incarnated form or call Him as Consciousness or Brahman. We sustain in God and we ultimately dissolve/merge in God.
  • When we stand on sea shore and watch the waves coming towards us with full force, will we ever think that the waves will remain as they are permanently? No
  • If that be so, why we make a mistake that we with our form, with our ego, with our present identity as Manohar or Ram or Priya or Latha or what ever, will remain as we are, with the same name, same form, same identity permanently?
  • This misapprehension, thinking that what we are today is our eternal identity is as ignorant on our part as believing that the wave charging towards us will remain as such, eternally!
  • So, the ONLY goal in every human life is to run/march towards  the source, the God, that is eternal and that we really are, ignoring all our mistaken notion in all  our births that our present identity is permanent.
  • Don't we know Swami's answer — "you have come through your parents but you have come from Me, live with Me, live due to Me and you have to come back to Me"!
  • We adore Him as Prana Sakha because, He was THERE (as source of all sources) before we were ever born for the first time, He is HERE when we are here in this birth and He will ever be THERE, when we would have gone from this world upon death and He will EXIST when we come back on this earth in next birth!
  • This eternal existence of the source God is given by the Master in the last line when he says, "The ocean can exist without waves whereas the waves have no identity, no birth without the ocean".
  • Bhagawan........... Bhagawan........... Prana Sakha Bhagwan, O Sai Mere Prana Sakha Bhagawan!

Love.

Lord Buddha

Dear All,

What does the above pour mean to us?

As human beings we commit many mistakes. We act as per dictate of ahamkara and vasanas.

When we listen to the gospel of avataars/masters on how human life has to be, we are often filled with remorse and we always carry the guilt feeling within us though the entire world may not know about the same.

We are often able to forgive the mistakes of others but we look down upon ourselves for all our weaknesses.

Can this be attributed to "dvesha" for ourselves ? Yes, it is.

Bhagwan says, "your compassion must cover yourselves also".

At the lower or still evolving level, it would mean that we have to love ourselves as much we are able to live the world , for, our existence is not apart from God, which we understood in yesterday's post.

"What ever I am, I am Yours. You say You are love and You have told us to live in love. If I have to practice the same, then how can the love not cover myself also? I may be a sinner, I may not be succeeding in progressing towards You, but who else but You can give me the strength to reach You?? Mujhe Shakti do, with that strength, let me immerse in devotion / love for which, mujhe Bhakti do and  after I reach the last but one stage in my Bhakti, give me Your hand and help me cross the last step, mukhti do, to whom can I pray for all these, who has all these things to give but You, O Sai Shiva!!!"

At the highest level, the experience of today's quote is -"In the ocean of Love, the entire cosmos is enveloped (ISA VASYA IDAM SARVAM), how can I be left out as a Jiva, devoid of Love, enriched with ego? There is no one left out, including me, who has any existence separate from the existence of God as LOVE.  Prema Sagara Sai Rama"!!!!!

Love.
