After this " essence of vedanta post", what next???

Dear All,

Given below this message is the summary of various theme posts given till now.

It may not be all inclusive but the summary depicted below gives the essence of all the  themes given till now.

The Author wonders if all of you would reach till the bottom of this mail to go through and revive your memories of the posts covering all these summarized flow!!!

Any way, having given all these theme posts till now from his side, now, he feels intuitively that he has to give you what you actually want / what you would actually be interested in reading.

This thought has come because from the page views he has realized that vedanta / Path of wisdom is rather difficult for all of us to take in, understand, realize its relevance in our spiritual path and then take up the path seriously.

Since we have moved far away from our traditional Vedic culture, we are not able to relate ourselves to the Vedic teachings in this modern, complicated, challenging life style. We are just able to devote a limited time for our prayers /Godly thoughts  as the rest of our available time is gone for day to day challenges as house holder, as student, as office goer etc.

So, While the current theme “ essence of vedanta” is  coming to an end this week, he shall wait for few suggestions from  you, from at least some of you on WHAT SUBJECTS / THEME SHOULD BE TAKEN NEXT IN THE BLOG.  IT COULD BE ANY SUBJECT. NO SUBJECT IS INFERIOR OR LESS IMPORTANT IN THE SPIRITUAL PATH.

If no one wants any new subject/ theme, then the blog posts may come to an end or just continue with some spiritual quotes daily.

So, he leaves the choice to the readers.

Readers from Oman/India/US/Other countries like Poland, Ukraine, Australia,Netherlands, Russia, Canada, UK, Japan etc., It is up to you to suggest, what you want / would like the author to take up next.

You may either give your suggestion as a comment in the blog or mail your suggestion to the author in his email - satyamurthyv@gmail.com

Essence of vedanta- post 41

Dear All,

Sadhaka's Entry in the path of Jnana- Sravanam
  • Though the sadhaka had read through Swami's talks on Bhagawad Gita, Swami's Vahini series, Swami's Sathya Sai Speaks few volumes, all these reading were at intellectual level.  And, let us be very clear. Any thing understood at intellectual level in spirituality is only HEARING and NOT LISTENING and Sravanam is all about Listening and not hearing and forgetting.
  • In 2010 Parthi yatra of Gulf region, some thing transpired in absolute silence between Swami and the sadhaka, which pushed him into the path of Jnana.
  • That one look, glance of Sai (which has been described later in the samarpan bhajans- Sundara nayanabi Ram line in Jagata Udharana, Raham nazar Karo Sai baba in Bed Paar Kao bhajan etc, by the author in a tube manner) ignited the fire in Sadhaka to take up the path of Jnana.
  • He came back to Muscat and then, from August 2010 to Jan 2010, all  major vedantic treatise, the 10 upanishads, the Atma bodhas and the yoga vasishtas and the viveka chudamanis, the moksha gitas, the Brahma Sutras,  the so far unknown and untouched ( untouched by most human beings on earth) treatise- the Ribhu Gitas and the Avadhuta Gitas etc etc. were read and grasped in the unearthly night hours from 10 PM to 1 mid night when the world was asleep.
  • So, in sadhaka's case, the Sravanam  itself took a subtler mode. it was not listening to the Guru's instructions. Then what it was????
    • In sadhaka's case, the Guru was God incarnate, The Sad guru of all sad gurus, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
    • The Guru was  physically away from the disciple.
    • The Guru created an environment wherein, study of each scripture by the sadhaka was as though, the Guru ( God) Himself was literally speaking through  those scriptures and the disciple listened and at the very same time, those teachings penetrated the heart and soul of the disciple.
So, what all went through within the disciple in this unique Sravanam Journey????
  • Viveka- Discrimination between real and unreal, dawned and stayed within.
  • Vairagya- dispassion towards unreal gathered momentum within.
  • Six virtues or the shad Sampath might have dawned within but it was so subtle that the disciple could not understand.
  • How ever, MUMUKSHTAVA, INTENSE CRAVING FOR REALIZING THE TRUTH, EXPERIENCING THE TRUTH- was lit up and lo and behold, the intensity of this fire was so much that in the fire, his past and present memory/ thought about the city, the country, the world, the creation- all got burnt.
  • The impact  of this lit up mumukshatva were the following:-
    • Attachment/hatred/Fear- these were slowly disappearing, getting weaker,  day by day.
    • Heart sought silence more and more automatically because, for getting deeper into the spiritual reading, the subtler sravanam in the sadhakas' case, silence was necessary.
    • Friends were gone and with them, foe(s) were also gone. Neither there were any mine and nor were there any thine.
    • The so called mind could not take itself away from the  call of Nirvana Shatakam, even for a split of a second. His car   music system would have played " Aham nirvikalpo nirakara Roopah" lines N+ 1times!!
    • Romance, if you must say, was there on the air..., but the Romance was with the REALITY and the lover in this case was all out for getting his fiancee (REAL TRUTH/ EXPERIENCE) now and for ever,  never to leave her!!
    • Peace or Bliss, if one names it thus, was a natural state with the mind resting in the nirvana shatakams and the Atma Bodhas etc.
We will move on to Mananam, in the next post.

Essence of vedanta-Post 40

Dear All,

As indicated in the previous post, the stages in spiritual evolution, experienced by the author, shall be given through the three stages- Shrvanam , mananam and nidhidhyasanam or in other expression- in Gross, subtler and subtlest states of experience.

(By now, looking at the number of page views and the absolute lack of any response from any reader, the author is almost convinced that in this recent times, no one is taking these posts seriously and making an attempt to fathom through the subtlest subject -vedantha, shared through various theme posts in the blog. Having taken up this deep subject theme- Essence of vedantha, he is some how completing the theme. He is at loss as to what to give next!!. Will readers of any other country respond to his call???)

IST STAGE IN SPIRITUAL EVOLUTION THROUGH THE PATH OF SELF ENQUIRY/ WISDOM/ JNANA

Bullet points from what we learnt on sravanam yesterday

  • Sravanam is the discovery of the whole vision of Vedanta, by listening to the teacher who unfolds the texts of Upanishads.
  • If we say that Vedanta is a means of knowledge, it means that sravanam becomes the main discipline for a seeker.
  • Most important point in Sravanam is to have absolute faith in the teacher, the Guru's teachings wherein the faith is developed as a result of one's own prarabdha to evolve spiritually and also one's observing the Guru's state day by day and developing such an unshakable faith in one's preceptor that one listens (Sravanam) to the Guru's instructions/ teachings exactly with the bhava as if one is listening to God's teachings.
NOW FOR THE AUTHOR'S JOURNEY IN THE SRAVANAM STAGE (Author to be referred as sadhaka  hereafter in the posts related to his evolution/ experience)

  • On the  one hand,  the sadhaka had 30+ years of background as a Sai devotee and as a classic case study of going through the stages of Karma, Upasana and Jnana, he had gone through the initial 10 years of his association in Sai organization as a core sevadal volunteer and office bearer, taking up intensive seva work in slums in Delhi, in various seva activities of the organization as regional sevadal co ordinator for a region in New Delhi.  He would visit slum week after week, undertake brushing of those slum angel children's teeth, combing their hair, playing with them, teaching them moral values, helping them in their studies etc.
  • Thus, the involvement in Service did reduce his ego to an extent but the reduction of ego was too less to be even mentioned !!
  • Then, from Karma to Upasana, he started singing in samithi, in zone and then in central bhajans in New Delhi. The journey for the next 10 years in Delhi was the journey of upasana.
  • The upasana journey continued after he re located to Muscat, Oman. In the very next year of his re locating to Muscat, he was given the responsibility of Bhajan Co ordinator of a centre in Sadan which he carried on for another 10 years. So, 30 years of his journey in the spiritual path was confined to Karma and then Upasana. Nothing in Jnana so far.
