Mata Amritananda Mayi

“When thoughts are reduced, power of the mind and its subtlety increases, tunes with the Universe. Then you can see the realms beyond the common understanding. When the mind is pure and quiet it becomes one with the universal mind. That mind is like a mirror. The secrets of the Universe will be revealed there.”

Wait Faithfully for God
“You may be waiting for God or God’s grace, but the thought
of God occurs in you only once in a blue moon or on Sundays or at best two or three times a day. Furthermore, those few occasions on which you may think of God are very dull and lacking in intensity, because you are preoccupied with so many other supposedly important things. It is all right if you faithfully wait for Him to come, but be sure you are attentive in your waiting. If you are preoccupied with other things, how can God come? How can His grace flow?
The Guru is there. His ever-flowing grace is there; it is always present. But you want Him to come uninvited, without any effort on your part. In the name of waiting you idle away your time. You do not consider it an intrinsic part of your life to wait faithfully. You do not take this period of waiting seriously and sincerely.
You say, ‘I am waiting for God, for His grace to come. He is all-compassionate, so He will come. Until then, let me engage in other important matters.’ This is foolishness. You will neither receive grace nor will you have the power to overcome difficult situations with this kind of faith.”

Mata Amritanandamayi

“The common expression is ‘I love you.’ But instead of ‘I love you,’ it would be better to say, ‘I am love — I am the embodiment of pure love.’ Remove the I and you, and you will find that there is only love. It is as if love is imprisoned between the I and you. Remove the I and you, for they are unreal; they are self-imposed walls that don’t exist. The gulf between I and you is the ego. When the ego is removed the distance disappears and the I and you also disappear. They merge to become one — and that is love. You lend the I and you their reality. Withdraw your support and they will disappear. Then you will realise, not that ‘I love you,’ but that ‘I am that all-embracing love.’

Mata Amritanandamayi

Question: “Isn’t it slavery when one follows the Guru
blindly?”
Amma: “My son, to know the Truth, we have to get rid of the sense of ‘I’. It is hard to achieve this just by doing sadhana on one’s own.

To eliminate the ego, it is essential to do spiritual practice under the guidance of a Guru. When we bow down before the Guru, we are not bowing to that individual, but to the ideal in Him. We do it so that we may also attain to His level

“When our sense of ‘I’ and ‘mine’ are about to destroy us, we are saved by following the Satguru’s advice. He gives us the training needed to avoid such circumstances later. The very proximity of the Guru gives us strength.

“Guru and God are there within everyone. But in the beginning, an external Guru is necessary. After a certain stage is reached, one can grasp the essential principles from every object and thereby progress.  Children, when the awareness of the Goal dawns, the Guru aspect within also awakens.”

Mata Amritanandamayi

Dear All,

The above Gospel has to be understood in the right perspective.

Otherwise, we can just get off  by saying that " I am loving all equally. So, what more is required. I am already realized as per Amma's words"!!

This has been dealt elaborately in Surrender theme in the flow " Love God who is part from you, then love God within you and then the Love all is the culmination of finding the God within you, not for few minutes if few hours or even few years but eternally!

Start loving God in the picture/ portrait / as a deity installed in temple/ any place of worship first. This has to go on for several years in most of the cases.  This Love for God as One who is separate from you, focussing on such God intensely results in melting of your ego/ surrendering your Ego at the Lotus feet of Lord.

Then comes the ultimate stage in one's spiritual sadhana where, The duality between the devotee and the God is gone and the devotion for God transforms into supreme love for God which culminates into the devotee existing JUST AS LOVE, where, he is not there and the God is not there.

ONLY this discovering God within, existing as Love, can result in the EXPANSIVENESS referred by Amma in the above Quote.

Expansiveness is not expanding your heart deliberately and then giving your love deliberately to each one around you.

Expansiveness is PREMA SAGARA.

Expansiveness is your existence as supreme Love, which has no mine or thine, which has no boundary, which is not some thing you deliberately extend to others but IT IS THE STATE OF YOUR EXISTENCE AS LOVE.

It is only then, the last line in the quote- ' Loving each thing equally" actually comes true.

When you lose your ego and exist as Love ( Love is God) , you cannot differentiate between you the one who loves and the other being who receives your love.

So, it is not that you love things equally. All get your Love equally because, in your state of existence, there is no you, there is no few, there are no many, there are no all. You exist as God, the ocean of Love which has no beginning, no middle and no end. That is, you as Love, exist as God, enveloping / pervading the whole creation ( ISA VAASYAM IDAGM SARVAM)

Then, the some or many or all are within you, as you are all pervading Love.

So, without your thinking/ deliberating/ doing any thing, by virtue of your existing as all pervading Love, it is but natural that all beings, the entire creation, living or non living beings - Must get drenched in the nectarine Love that you verily exist as!!

Love

GO BEYOND MIND
During the woman’s meditations, a woman  had been having various experiences, and she wanted to know how to take them:
D(Devotee) : “Amma, what sort of attitude and understanding should one have to the various experiences one undergoes during meditation? How much does one’s mental attitude affect how we experience these?
For instance, at one time it might be a joyous experience of motherly love and, at another time, something very impersonal, like forces of nature, like little flashes of lightning and strong gusts of wind acting upon one’s being…
What role does the Guru play in all of this? Why do many people go insane or become delusional and egoistic and only a few safely make it to the Goal?”
Amma : Such experiences arise out of innocence. And that although one can take encouragement from such experiences, that they should not be given much importance.
“Because of one’s innocence one may have such experiences; one may feel motherly love, see divine lights or feel a cool breeze… But you should go beyond all such experiences,  “You are on the path to realizing your oneness with God, with the Self.
While travelling on a path, we see many things around us. But if we stop to see these things and forget our goal, we may never reach the goal.”
All experiences are at the level of the mind and that the goal of spiritual life is to go beyond the mind. Ultimately such experiences are much like dreams and, as such, they should only be given the same importance as a dream.
“The real important thing is the control we have over our mind in all situations”.
“If someone becomes angry at us, we should not react and become angry also. We should reflect, ‘Whom am I becoming angry at?’ In such situations we should remember that it is all the Atma, the Supreme Self. We should think, ‘The consciousness that is within me is within that person also. Can consciousness become angry?
And if all is one, to whom can it express its anger?’ We should give more importance to the Self and not the body.”
“When we eat sugar, we experience the sweetness. But we still are different from the sugar. We shouldn’t be an experiencer, we should become That, we should become the sugar, we should become the sweetness.”.
