Swami tells a story on Surrender - Part 4

                              Lord is Sharanagatha vatsala

We will have a glimpse of Vibhishana’s surrender and then read what Swami says about Vibhishana.

We all know the story of how Vibhishana comes to Rama and surrenders to him.

When Vanaras and Sugriva express their doubt about Vibhishana’s motive, Rama says thus:-

“Vibhishana has surrendered to Me and it is My duty to offer him protection under all circumstances. It does not matter if he fails in his surrender. The very fact that he has said ‘I have surrendered to You” is enough for Me.

He need not have come here. Even if he had surrendered from Lanka, I would have still been obliged to protect him.

Now, up to this, we have heard and read in Rama’s story.

Let us now read the essence of what Swami writes on surrender and Lord’s nature as Sharanagatha Vatsala, in the context of Vibhishana and Ravana.

“Sugiriva said, “Lord, You have given vibhishana Your protection and You have assured him that when the war is over and Ravana is overthrown, You will make him the King of Lanka. But suppose Ravana himself comes to You now and surrenders himself to You, what kingdom will You give him now?

Rama replied, If Ravana has such fine ideas and
surrenders himself to Me, I will ask My brother Bharatha to step down and make Ravana, the king of Ayodhya, I never asked any one for anything, so I am sure, if I ask Bharatha for this, he will gladly offer Ayodhya to Ravana”.

Dear Ones,

Will Lord really do that?? Will Lord respond in such a manner if we surrender to the Lord? Only this subtle question/doubt in our heart stops us from surrendering totally to Lord.

When Prahlada was thrown down from the mountain, he did not have the least doubt that Narayana would protect him and Narayana did protect him. When one surrenders, the freedom one attains and experiences within is the ultimate fruit of surrender. In that freedom, how Lord will reciprocate is not thought by the one who has surrendered and is in Bliss.

Since such surrender is rare, it is as though Lord only waits for us to surrender our thoughts, words, actions, our very identity and our soul to Him so that He guides our life through and through thereafter.

There are less people in the queue, you are sure to get the grace of Lord if you reach Him in the queue and offer yourself to Him!!!!!!!

Love.
