Creation of the Universe - Part 21

Dear All,

Nāpratīti stayor bādha kintu mithyātva niścaya, no cet suupti mūrcchādau mucyetā yatnato jana (13)

The non-perception of the world is not freedom from bondage. It is the perception of the unreality of creation that is the freedom from bondage.

There is no harm in seeing the mirage looking like water, but running after it as if it is water is ignorance.

Even when we know that it is a mirage and we do not run after it, it is still seen. The water in the mirage will still appear even to the person who knows that it is not water.

Similarly, even for a wise person, the world may be visible.

Even a Jivanmukta will see the world, but he will know that it is not there, and therefore he will not be attached.

If mere non-perception of a thing is freedom, we would be freed in deep sleep, in a coma, or in a swoon.

We could get liberation without any effort if the mere non-perception of things could be regarded as freedom, as happens every day in deep sleep. But this is not so. Non-perception of the existent thing is not freedom.

The recognition of the unreality of an existent thing is freedom. Let it be there, but we do not get attached to it on account of knowing what it is made of, really speaking.

Perception itself is not bondage; the ignorance attached to the perception is bondage.

Paramātmā vaśeo’pi tat satyatva viniścaya, na jagat vismtir no ceñ jīvan muktirna sabhavet (14).

The unreality of the world is, at the same time, an affirmation of the reality of God.

When the forms and names are brushed aside as finally not valid in this process of creation, we will get awakened to the consciousness of the background.

When we do not see the ink, we will then see the cloth.

Even in a cinema we can see the screen behind the film if we concentrate our mind properly.

In a similar manner, we can see the consciousness of the Absolute pervading all things, notwithstanding the fact that there is a variety of names and forms.

This condition of seeing the variety and yet being conscious of the Universal Being at the same time is called Jivanmukti, which was described in a previous post.

This is the essence of Vibhuthi Yoga in Bhagwad Gita.

Dear All,

Not recognizing the dancing pictures on the movie screen/ Not recognizing the drawings on the pure canvass has to be properly understood.

It is impossible not to physically ignore the dancing pictures or drawings. Your eyes do see them.

What is most important to know and realize here is “To be tuned to/ To be aware of the pure consciousness energy which is everywhere and in everything, at all times.

To the extent this awareness is complete and full, to that extent, you will not be able to perceive and take in anything even when you see the dancing pictures/ drawings.

Let us understand this more clearly today and for ever in the context of God and Devotee, as we can relate to this relation more easily.

When a devotee like  Mira/ Tulsidas/Kabir/Tyagaraja etc. is so much filled with Godly thoughts, God consciousness, the devotee is never ever able to come down to the level of thinking whether he is perceiving the worldly things  ore not.

For Mira, there was no one else, there was nothing else that existed other than Krishna, so much so that, She herself lived as Krishna.

Now, we can relate easily to the lines given earlier-"What is most important to know and realize here is “To be tuned to/ To be aware of the pure consciousness energy (God if you may say so) which is everywhere and in everything, at all times.

Love.

  1. Dear All,

The author posts a post and then comments on the same himself!!!. There are hardly any one to send comment . what to do??

The essence of today's post is split into 2 stages in spiritual evolution of a human being.

1st stage- Brahma sathyam Jagath mithya

Every one has to start with this firm belief and then proceed in his/ her spiritual journey.

There is only one truth/ sathyam, which is God beyond the apparent world. The apparent world is all an unreal super imposition on the one truth which is God.

This firm faith is required in the earlier stage otherwise, attraction to the world with all its glittering and tempting objects is impossible.

To develop concentration and contemplation, as Swami spoke on the aradhana day thought for the day talk in sadan on 24/4/2017 at the end of the bhajan, is not possible unless one concentrates and contemplates ONLY on God/ Truth and leaves everything else as unreal.

This is what is given in today's post as "Non perception of objects in the world by itself is not an achievement. Though perceiving an object, firmly believing that the object is unreal, is an achievement"

    2nd or the penultimate stage

This stage is apparently contrary to the first stage. The stage is sarvam khalvidam brahma.

This is the stage where, as Swami spoke in the same thought for the day talk, a sadhaka or a devotee transcends the stage of concentration and contemplation and gets into meditation and absorption.

Here, at this stage, the focus shifts from the form which the devotee has been worshipped hitherto, to the experience of God within and upon absorption of the divine experience, when the devotee/ sadhaka wakes up to see the world, He/ she is not able to experience any thing other than God consciousness at all!!.

It is simple at least to understand. When you come out of your meditation, only when you have the sense of I ness or My ness (asmita), then you, with your I ness or ego, will see the world of human beings with respect to your I ness or your ego.

When you are so absorbed in God consciousness that you just do not have the I ness or My ness any more, then your vision, your seeing the world becomes exactly the same as God's vision, how Swami would be seeing the masses in SK Hall.

So, here, nothing is unreal at all. Everything is one TRUTH, Brahman.

If you think in depth, actually there is no contradiction in the 2 statements. It is only due to the difference in your spiritual stage, that they appear as different.

First, you are differentiating between world and God as you are not into God consciousness, so God is real and world is unreal. In the second stage, when your vision is elevated to God's vision, the unreal world may still be there for others but for you, THERE IS NOTHING WHICH EXISTS OTHER THAN THE GOD/ THE REALITY/ THE TRUTH/ SATHYAM.

    Love.
