Sri Ramana was asked a question on the above statement by a visitor.
Visitor: "How can you say this? How can the monks meditating in Tibet, living in seclusion from the society can serve the society?".
Ramana: It is only due to the pure hearts of those monks, it is only due to the aura of these Masters enveloping this universe that you and me are alive, hale and healthy, in spite of so much of violence and enmity within the country and amongst various countries. The entire negativity in this creation is wiped out with the aura of these Masters!
In Moksha Gita, Swami Sivananda says "Only a realized Master's seva/service can be termed exactly as service".
In the Surrender posts, there is a post on Loving God outside us, Loving God within us and then, once we have discovered the God within us, to effortlessly realize that the same God/ Divinity has to be there in every one else and with this Realization, service to anyone flows spontaneously, in the mode intuitively decided by the God within!
In that post, service aspect has been dealt in a more detailed manner as to How serving JUST happens when one gets realization.
Is teaching Brahma Vidya by a Jnani not the greatest service that can be given by any one to any other human in this creation?
Is acting as God's instrument and guiding the humanity on the purpose of human birth not one of the greatest seva that anyone can do?
Till one attains Self Realization, his serving the mankind is calculative, limited to a particular time, particular number of hours to a particular section of society and more often in anticipation of appreciation for the service done.
Only after one attains Self Realization, His every moment, His every breath, His every word, His every silence is service to the humanity with unconditional Love, though the entire world may not understand this aspect of His existence!!
Love.
A Guru is Source personified. A Guru is a living testimony of selfless untiring efforts to ensure that the disciple finds fruition for his birth.
ReplyDeletePouring water into a thirsty soul is also seva but to ensure that the thirst is removed for eternity is the SEVA referred in here. A newer Dimension of SEVA is so clearly presented that the reader's urge to surrender to such a Guru is automatically triggered. If this triggering happens within, then that is the beginning of the journey towards Self Realization.
Such a Guru is certainly incomprehensible as the essence of His existence and His selfless action is beyond mind and its play.
Prostrations to my Guru for ensuring that i tread along that path.
Hari Aum Tat Sat.
Meditation is nothing but constant contemplation of God through his name , form or the formless Brahman ( At a later stage).
ReplyDeleteFinally one attains realisation/ or become the Nami itself with the union of Namam and Nami. Hence the person becomes realised soul where he is totally selfless.
This makes him identify every creature as His children and does selfless service to the whole mankind.
This selfless service is the actual seva for the society showing the path of divinity to the entire society.
